Anglican Christians affirm the goodness of the physical world––matter matters. This is because God sanctified the whole of the physical world through the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the ultimate sacrament. A ‘sacrament’ is a visible sign of an invisible reality. God became human to reveal himself to the world; he became human to show his love for us and for all creation. Because of this, we believe that God still conveys his grace, love, and promise to us through sacraments such as bread and wine (the Eucharist) and water (Baptism).
